Quick answer
Selling price = cost × (1 + markup% ÷ 100). Example: cost 40 with 25% markup → 40 × 1.25 = 50. Margin on that price is 20%.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate markup percentage?
Markup % = ((selling price − cost) ÷ cost) × 100. Example: cost 40, price 50 → ((50 − 40) ÷ 40) × 100 = 25% markup.
Is markup the same as margin?
No. Markup is relative to cost; margin is relative to selling price. A 25% markup on 40 is a 50 selling price and a 20% margin ((50−40)÷50).
