Where these figures come from
Every rate and threshold here is copied by hand from the official page below and re-checked on a set date — we do not scrape them automatically, so a figure never changes without a person confirming it first.
Old and new regime slabs, standard deduction and 87A rebate (FY 2026-27) — Income Tax Department, Government of India
Checked 2026-08-25 · next re-check due 2027-03-15
Illustrative estimate: surcharge, and deductions beyond the standard deduction, are not modelled. The Union Budget usually revises slabs each February.
This calculator is math, not tax or financial advice. Where an official figure and our copy of it disagree, the official one is correct — tell us and we will fix it.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the official income-tax calculator?
No. It applies simplified illustrative slabs and a standard deduction only. Deductions, exemptions, and surcharge rules vary — use the Income Tax Department tools or a CA for filing.
What is included?
Standard deduction, slab tax, the 87A rebate, marginal relief just above the rebate threshold (so a small income increase near ₹12L doesn’t look like it costs a disproportionate jump in tax), and 4% health & education cess.
What are the new regime slabs for FY 2026-27?
Illustrative new-regime slabs: ₹0–4L nil, ₹4–8L at 5%, ₹8–12L at 10%, ₹12–16L at 15%, ₹16–20L at 20%, ₹20–24L at 25%, above ₹24L at 30%, with a ₹75,000 standard deduction and a rebate (Section 87A) that zeroes tax up to ₹12L taxable income. Budget 2026 made no change to these slabs from FY 2025-26 — always confirm against the Income Tax Department before filing.
